There are things I haven’t missed during #Lockdown. How about you?

The list of things I have not missed during the #COVID-19 #lockdown could be shorter than the list of things I have missed but there’s still a list.

  • Running through the morning chores against a tight timeline and at the precise moment when we are about to start for his school my kid says, Papa, no 2, need to go to the loo. Those who have faced this know there’s never a worse time to visit the loo than when you are getting late for the school. I don’t have to worry about it anymore.
  • While on the road, stuck in traffic, looking at that limited space in front of your car, then looking around and preempting the next move of your fellow drivers, one foot on clutch and other on the accelerator. No matter what happens, if you have laid your eyes on any open space in traffic, it belongs to you and you only. I don’t have to stress about it anymore.
  • Every evening when it comes to picking my wife on her way back from office, where do I go to pick her up?  Metro station? Bus stop? Before the flyover or after it? It’s a negotiation that never has the right resolution. I don’t miss it one bit.
  • Lamenting that last minute or ill-timed meeting that will throw me right into the rush hour traffic and make my 25 minute smooth ride home into a 60 min bumper to bumper nightmare. Thank you, that’s not part of my day now.
  • Worrying how my kid’s day is going in his daycare. Did he eat warm food and had warm milk? Did he sleep on time? And what if I get delayed in office or on the road and am not able to pick him in time at the end of the day? He is there in front of my eyes throughout the day now.
  • And then heating and eating not so fresh meals, drinking tea that is not boiled properly, using the loo in office, and the list goes on. The list is not short, if you think about it.

Anyhow, this #lockdown has been an experience we never imagined we’d have to live through but here we are! And irrespective of what we may or may not miss, I do miss moving around carefree, don’t you!
