Humayun's tomb is one of those most popular and visited tourist attractions in Delhi and once you go there you know why.
It's the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun who was the son of Babur and father to Akbar. He spent greater part of his rulership away from Delhi though.
Humayun's tomb was commissioned by his first wife, Empress Bega Begum- Haji Begum, in 1569-70, was designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas.
Humayun's Tomb is now a World Heritage site. It is the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. It was also the first big structure to use red sandstone predominantly.
If you visit Humayun's Tomb in Delhi, you'll find a large number of Indian as well as foreign tourists. The place is situated near to Hazrat Nizamudin Aulia dargah and Purana Qila.
Parking at Humayun's Tomb can be a challenge if you visit on a weekend. We didn't find a place to park car, in fact missed be a few cars, and were asked to park on the other side of Humayun's Tomb complex.
